👇🏼Write those glimpses of thoughts immediately as they come. Collect memes, graphs and anything what made you stop and think in a notepad. You can come back and expand on them later, but make sure you write them down (we all experienced that evening’ genius idea we haven’t recorded, which we forgot the next morning.)
👇🏼Dedicate specific time to when you write. Don’t wait for the “flow” to magically happen. Remove distractions. Flow will get unblocked (more on this here: )
👇🏼Draw your main point.
👇🏼Bullet point any side aspects you want to include.
👇🏼It’s ok if it feels chaotic. All drafts feel like that. Now onto the moulding:
👇🏼Get a hook into the first 2 sentences.
👇🏼Follow with a story.
👇🏼End with a learning (what’s in it for the reader).
👇🏼Delete and rewrite.
👇🏼Delete, until it sounds easy.
👇🏼Write only when I have something to say. (if you keep recording those thoughts in a notepad, you’ll always have enough ahead!)
👇🏼Make it original = apply your style.
👇🏼Be authentic.
👇🏼Only one idea per post.
👇🏼Write for what people want to read.
👇🏼Share your authority when relevant (but try not to sound like a braggart).
👇🏼Use fewer words and make shorter sentences.
👇🏼Use simpler words (write for a smart 11 year old).
👇🏼Don’t tolerate sloppiness.
👇🏼Use humour if it fits.
👇🏼Share experience and avoid opinion.
👇🏼Make your reader feel something.
👇🏼Include a single call-to-action at the end.
👇🏼Budget sufficient time (it will take ages initially – don’t despair).
👇🏼Make it worth writing even when nobody reads.
Remember that even if nobody reads, it helps to clarify your thoughts. That converts into: better negotiations, better sales, more serendipitous encounters (I met my now fiancé through my blog!), people finding what you’re about and joining your mission … etc.
